Where it all started. August 2014

Nature was slowly reclaiming this forgotten place

In the weeds, two lions kept guard. One awake . . .

...and one, mysteriously, asleep. Why were they there?

Abandoned, the entrance gates hung open

Access doors to the crypt

Inside, the star chamber had an eerie green light

One angel on the east side

Another on the west side.

Beautiful detail on the angel's wing.

The roof, with gaping holes and saplings

The mark of Peddie & Kinnear, Architects.

So in 2015 we set to work

and in 2017

and in 2018

Gradually, the building began to show it's beauty.

This path had been the only way in

Thanks to landowners Lothian Estates for the new road

During restoration it looked more like a chinese pagoda
